Traditionally vernacular has always been unconscious of the other modes of thinking and working-world views. Despite the richness of geometry and the diverse and alien form language that the vernacular offers, it operates in an isolated mode that is based on implicit craft knowledge. Mis-readings is interested in revisiting this mode of architectural thought. Setting the vernacular architecture as its point of departure, it will try to rethink its fundamental assumptions and define new possible paths for the future. The workshop looks at the possible futures cone and the rules of Jim Dator, and focuses on scenarios for fictional futures; futures that might seem preposterous in the beginning but are contemplations as to what the reality-architecture/future might be.
